Tangipahoa Communications District #1 invites you to explore the opportunity for an exciting new career. The District provides emergency communications services to the citizens and public service entities of Tangipahoa parish, which has a population of 134,758 (2019) and covers 823 square miles. We’re unique in that we additionally provide these services for St. Helena parish, which has a population of 10,132 (2019) and covers 409 square miles.
We answer an average of 91,510 (2020) emergency 9-1-1 calls and 80,870 admin line calls annually, and we are housed within a $1,200,000 operations facility with state-of-the-art equipment. We are also the fire department dispatch center for the departments in Tangipahoa and St. Helena Parishes.

➤ DRUG/ALCOHOL TESTING: All applicants are subject to a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing if hired. Applicants with a positive drug test will not be considered for employment with Tangipahoa Communications District #1.

ACTIVE PERIOD: All applications for employment shall be considered active for a period not to exceed 120 days. If the 120-day active period has passed, the pre-employment paperwork must be filled out again and resubmitted for consideration.
New Employees
Applicants selected for appointment will be advised specifically that they have been chosen and given exact their starting dates. Do not assume you have been, or will be, appointed until that time.
All applicants that are hired will be subject to a 6-month probationary period once released from training.
